The Friends of the Franklin County Farmers Market promotes locally-produced food and goods, supports local sustainable agriculture, educates about healthy living while advocating for greater access to healthy foods for all, and strives to make the Market a vibrant community gathering place.
The Franklin County Farmers Market is an important part of many of our lives, and the Friends of the Market offers an opportunity to support the Market and local farmers. Just as the food from the Market nourishes us, by becoming a Friend of the Market, you help make our Market a more vibrant place.
On Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday mornings from mid-April through November, people gather under the pavilion at River View Park in Downtown Frankfort. Farmers bring fruits, vegetables, baked goods, honey, meats, plants, eggs, flowers, soaps, preserves and more produced in Franklin and neighboring counties.
The Market provides a community gathering place, supports our local economy, makes fresh food available to our community, and educates people about gardening, cooking and nutrition. Through the Market's participation in SNAP/EBT, Senior Nutrition, and WIC programs, the Market helps make healthy, locally grown food available to people who might not otherwise have access to it.
Friends of the Market help make all of this and more possible. As a Friend, you support the Franklin County Farmers Market by:
- Supporting local farmers
- Helping spread the word about the Franklin County Farmers Market
- Connecting the community with local sustainable agriculture
- Providing education about healthy food and living
- Reaching out to members of our community who may not have access to local, healthy foods
- Organizing to make our Market a more vibrant community gathering place
