The farmers of the Market will meet to have their scales certified by the Kentucky Department of Agriculture and to receive training for 2017 WIC and Senior coupon acceptance.
Senior Farmers' Market Nutrition Program provides low-income seniors with coupons that can be exchanged for eligible foods (fruits, vegetables, honey, and fresh-cut herbs) at farmers' markets like ours. Farmers sign up and attend training each year to accept these coupons.
The WIC Farmers Market Nutrition Program was established by Congress in 1992, to provide fresh, unprepared, locally grown fruits and vegetables to WIC participants, and to expand the awareness, use of, and sales at farmers’ markets. Our participating farmers sign up and attend training each year for this program as well.
